About the project
Somaliland is a developing country located in the Horn of Africa. Currently, 1 in 3 people in Somaliland live in extreme poverty. Basic human requirements are lacking with only 31% of the entire population having access to clean drinking water and according to Save the Children (March, 2013), 86.4% of children in Somaliland are considered ‘street children’, living and working on the streets. Many are also unable to afford treatment from hospitals leading to a high percentage of preventable deaths. The statistics are shocking and the quality of life is lacking which is why change is needed and it starts with you.
The Somaliland Global Village project (SGV) aims to build a medical clinic, orphanage, mosque, a primary school and provide water supply across all of these facilities. The medical clinic built will be providing free medical aid such as antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals mainly for the children of the orphanage and school but we hope to expand and be able to aid an entire community. The school will be able to take on up to 250 – 300 children and will have several classrooms, a teachers’ room, toilet facilities and a clean water supply. The school will also host an orphanage that houses up to 100 orphans and underprivileged children and will be equipped with all a child needs to grow healthily in a safe environment. It will also include a ‘green area’ that allows each child to grow their own crops and nurture them. As well as this, the mosque built will be able to hold 150 people and is complete with wudhu facilities and spacious segregated prayer areas.
How can I help?
Any contributions will go a long way and would be much appreciated by both the Teebah Foundation and the intended recipients. Choose your payment method here www.teebahfoundation.org/donate. No matter how big or small your donation is, Teebah Foundation welcomes your valuable contribution.
Who will benefit from this project?
Local people and communities who don’t have access to healthcare and a clean water supply. As well as this, children who aren’t able to attend school would greatly benefit. 61.3% of the children currently living on the streets of Somaliland stated that education was essential in getting out of poverty to better jobs and opportunities. Not only would the overwhelming number of children found on the streets reduce with the orphanage we are trying to build but the school being built would allow children to stay off the streets and allow them to prosper as adults.
Why should I donate?
“And whoever saves one [soul] – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
With this project, hundreds of lives would be saved and improved and, you would not only save the lives of those living but this would be a form of Sadaqah Jaariyah for you, affecting the lives of future generations. The poverty cycle is incredibly hard to get out of but this project gives many the chance to do just that. Teebah Foundation is calling every human being to urgently donate and give many a chance to change their lives for the better.
